Schüco UK & Ireland

Schüco is evolving its approach to façade systems through regenerative design, long-term stewardship and whole-life thinking. The company is supporting architects and planners with early-stage building surveys, helping teams assess what can be retained, repaired or remediated before replacement is considered. Schüco is also developing closed-loop approaches that recover existing aluminium systems and return them to the circular economy. By combining low-carbon materials with maintenance, engineering and specification support, the company aims to extend the life of façades and take greater responsibility for the materials it puts into the built environment.

Atelier One

HKS is a global architecture, design, planning and advisory practice creating places that inspire, connect and perform. HG Matthews is a family owned and run British brickmaker, best known for producing traditional wood-fired handmade bricks alongside innovative low-carbon clay products. Combining traditional craftsmanship with modern environmental thinking, the company supplies conservation, and high end new build projects throughout the UK. HG Matthews is committed to quality and sustainability while preserving the skills and character of traditional brick-making.

In Opera Group

In Opera Group are leading specialists in terrazzo, porcelain, marble and other natural stone surfaces, dedicated to supplying premium materials for architects and designers worldwide. The foundations of In Opera Group were laid in the late 1960s in Northern Italy, at the foot of the Apuan Alps, a region renowned for its marble quarries and natural stone. Today we comprise some of the largest factories and manufacturers across Italy, Portugal and the Balkan Peninsula. We prioritise long-term performance over short-term gain. Our materials are designed for durability, adaptability and low maintenance, reducing lifecycle impact. We are committed to research and development that improves our materials and processes while lessening our impact on the environment. Our latest product, Durabella, is an in-situ terrazzo that utilises a plant-based oil bio-binder. Already supplied to Apple Stores worldwide, the Fenix building in Rotterdam and other landmark projects, Durabella will launch in the UK later this year.

Brilliant Bamboo CIC

Brilliant Bamboo is a community interest company supporting the exploration and collaborative integration of bamboo across the built environment and artsitic industries. The organisation grew from the Imagine Bamboo intitiative, which brought together artists, academics, architects, and engineers to discuss – and experiment with – growing and building with bamboo. Brilliant Bamboo, formed in August of 2023, is a not-for-profit and social enterprise that develops projects with a range of partners and communities: making a positive contribution to the lives of communities and the planet.

Max Fordham LLP is a partnership of engineers, designers and consultants, working with the built environment, to deliver a sustainable future and a thriving planet. For 60 years, they have championed sustainable, low energy, and low carbon building design, and worked with the world’s leading architects on some of the world’s greatest buildings. Max Fordham’s portfolio includes award-winning exemplars of sustainable design and a diverse mix of beautifully engineered buildings. Timothy Soar

Timothy Soar is one of the UK’s leading phtographers and has spent most of his life visiting, photographing and discussing architecture and architects. His portraits of architects, from the early 2000s through the post-COVID era, offer a glimpse into a profession that’s constantly evolving, capturing the human side of the built environment.

In a world where you can manipulate an image endlessly, Soar sticks to the truth of the frame. His photography is all about seeing things clearly. To find where the story is.
